Drambuie celebrates Mad Men return with Rusty Nail cocktail

With the fifth season of Mad Men due to return to television screens on 27 March, it’s time to revive our inner Don Draper with a true cocktail classic. The Rusty Nail was a cocktail favourite of 1960s America and the drink of choice for The Rat Pack. Made by combining Scotch whisky and Drambuie, this drink is the perfect tribute to the Mad Men of Madison Avenue. Drambuie’s unique blend marries aged Scotch whisky with spices, heather honey and herbs. Add a dash to any classic cocktail for an unexpected depth of spice and flavour.

In Season Four, we left the advertising agency as it struggled to stay afloat. Newly divorced Don Draper had made an unexpected proposal to his secretary while married Joan had reignited her love affair with Sterling and fallen pregnant. Critics assure us that the next instalment will not disappoint, so raise a toast to the return of Sixties cool.

The Rusty Nail

  • 25ml Scotch whisky
  • 25ml Drambuie 15 Year Old

Method: Fill a double Old-Fashioned glass with crushed ice. Pour in the Drambuie 15 and add the Scotch on top. Stir gently and garnish with a lemon twist.
