Last night, Tuesday, November 1st, 2011, Ferragamo celebrated the launch of Tramezza Special Edition, a line of men’s 100% handmade and hand painted Tramezza shoes, with GQ at the Salvatore Ferragamo Fifth Avenue Flagship store.

New York Giant’s Victor Cruz and Ramses Barden were present, along with evening beneficiary, The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and invited special guests who were the first lucky few to shop this limited line of Tramezza Special Edition custom, artisanal ,handmade men’s shoes and Gancino belts.

Whilst the present select few shopped, enjoyed themselves and socialized amongst themselves, I was most taken aback by the Ferragamo video that was looping as part of a retail art installation; showcased was the true love, artisan tradition, craftsmanship and processing that is all blended together to create the final Ferragamo brand’s impeccable masterpieces of style. Using only the finest materials, Ferragamo’s Special Edition Tramezza line of shoes and belts are completely hand made, with each pair of shoes taking over 3 weeks to make, enduring over 320 processes to become the beautifully crafted works of art that were on display here tonight.

One lucky winner was also given s a chance to win the ultimate trip for two to Indianapolis this February for the biggest day in Football, Superbowl weekend. The prize package included round-trip airfare, hotel for 3 nights, and 2 tickets to the GQ party and Big Game. A percentage of the evening’s sales benefited The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s 2011 Annual Appeal for Prostate Cancer Research.

Apparently one man in six will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime as it is the second leading cause of cancer death among men. As such, the Society’s 2011 Annual Appeal will fund the development of crucial new methods to detect, analyze and manage prostate cancer, improving patient outcomes for patients with both localized and advanced or metastatic cancer. To support the 2011 Annual Appeal and build on MSKCC’s long tradition of excellence in cancer care. Please visit www.thesocietyofmskcc.com and make an online donation.

Many key figures were present at the event including the aforementioned NY Giant’s Victor Cruz and Ramses Barden, DJ Kiss and the esteemed Vincent Ottomanelli, President of Ferragamo USA. Victor, DJ Kiss and Vincent Ottomanelli were all wearing Ferragamo, their outfits of which can be perused in the gallery above.
