PopCap Games, a division of EA and maker of some of the world’s most popular games, today announced that a zombie from the award-winning video game Plants vs. ZombiesTM will enter the British 10K to raise money for SpecialEffect, the UK charity dedicated to helping young people with disabilities enjoy computer games and creative technologies.
The 12th annual British 10K takes place in London on Sunday July 8, and the zombie will join over 25,000 runners in a route that will take in some of the world’s most iconic landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, the London Eye and St Paul’s Cathedral.
Putting aside its fascination for ‘brainz’, the zombie will be shambling through London for charity and is looking for donations from the living, the undead… and yes, even plants. Members of the public can show their support for the zombie by donating through the official JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/RunZombieRun or simply texting PVZ099 £2 or PVZ099 £5 to 70070.
Dr. Mick Donegan, Founder, SpecialEffect said:
“It’s fantastic that PopCap is not only raising vital funds and awareness to help SpecialEffect enable disabled young people to enjoy games, but is really getting into the spirit of the event as well. I’m thoroughly looking forward to cheering the zombie from Plants vs. Zombies over the finishing line on the day.”
PopCap’s PvZ zombie said:
