Scientists have warned that another satellite is set to crash land into Earth in the next few weeks. The German research satellite ROSAT has apparently left its orbit and is down destined for Earth! Pieces of the satellite could hit Earth as it re-enters the atmosphere in the next few weeks.
Fear not though, as the boffins have told us not to panic and it’s not the end of the Earth. Fortunately, the odds of the pieces falling on you is tiny.
“Until now, in the more than 50-years of space history, not a single person has been harmed” [by pieces of falling satellites], said Professor Heiner Klinkrad, director of the European Space Agency’s office that deals with space debris.
