Sky News today announced that it has launched a new free app for BlackBerry® smartphones. This release now means that Sky News is available on all the major smartphone platforms available in the UK.
The app, which has been developed in partnership with BlackBerry maker Research In Motion, has been adapted to combine all of Sky News’ brand, design and content with the look and feel of BlackBerry.

- Integration to BlackBerry apps for Facebook and Twitter as well as Blackberry Messenger (BBM)
- ’Push’, real time notifications to BlackBerry email inbox
The app allows users to stay up to date with breaking national and international news, which can be received direct to their mail box. Users can also send stories and pictures from their device straight to the newsroom.

Over 4.3 million people have now downloaded Sky News mobile applications, via, iPhone, Android, Windows and iPad. There are more than 7 million active BlackBerry customers in the UK alone. Smartphones which are not app-ready can access the news through m.skynews.com.
